2009 Starlight Campaign
Dear Friend,
The New Year is here once again to welcome each one of us with joyful anticipations and to offer us a new opportunity to express our love and compassion. This Holiday season is a fitting time to express our gratitude as well as share with you a glimpse of our unfolding TAT Vision.
Those of you who have attended our workshops and retreats have experienced the love and light that our facilitators so generously share with everyone. Their sweet and heartfelt creative expressions have been helping our troubled youth transform and start a new beginning.
I am delighted to share with you a couple of the stories I have heard at Amelia Open House in November. Mary told me that she had become stronger than her problems. She could not understand how she felt so much better even though her family situation had gotten worse. Her single mother’s sickness was getting worse and therefore their income was their lowest ever. Sam told Lynette (our TAT facilitator) that he is now in charge of his life because when “the fire of anger starts exploding inside of him,” he starts practicing his deep breathing exercises, and just in a few minutes he feels calmer with no reason to act out his anger. He used to think that his anger was a disease which he could never control. Sam had noticed that he had not started a single fight in the past two months.
I am so grateful that TAT has been able to help students like Mary and Sam. Our weekly classes at Amelia Earhart Continuation High School and our retreats and workshops with Vista Del Mar have been very successful since 2004. Our free Yoga Classes, Art Therapy and Music Workshops have helped our low income youth find a purpose, establish goals, and find a loving place inside that can serve as a search light guiding them in their future lives.
I would like to share with you our immediate goals for 2009:
Ø Create official website (First draft of our website www.transformyouth.org is ready)
Ø Hire a Part-Time Fund Development Staff and a Part-Time Coordinator
Ø Expand our classes and workshops to more schools
Our staff and I wish you the best in this coming New Year and thank you again for your support and joining us to manifest this breath taking Co-creation with Spirit which we call TAT Center for the youth.
In divine friendship,
Frances Bonk
