Our History

2008

TAT started the year with general fundraising mailing, Starlight Campaign. It raised enough money to offer free monthly workshops at the Santa Monica library. It also added more half-day retreats and workshops for the parents and teachers. TAT gathered a great group of sponsors who helped to put together the first big fundraising event and party, Asha, a Night of Hope. This was TAT's first party for the students and their families. Everyone had plenty of fun. Many of the students had a great opportunity to perform, give speeches and totally shine. Funding advisor helped to complete grant proposal and Letter of Inquiry. By the end of the year TAT was ready to send Grant proposals to different foundations. We expect 2009 to be a great and prosperous year.

2007

TAT began the year with the 2007 Starlight Funding meetings and trainings. Website construction began with Nader’s help. High school workshops continued. John Beaulieu joined the advisory board and Cuong Le joined the Board of Directors. Teacher Workshops were offered at Dorothy Brown. Training seminars for Sound Healing and fundraising were held in addition to the facilitator training. Lynette lee became the yoga director. Sierra began writing for the website and youth Center, and did this history summary.

2006

Nonprofit status was granted on March 22, 2006. The programs continued undergoing reconstruction. Weekly Amelia Earhart workshops continued. Tutoring and support programs for gifted students began, as well as counseling with high school interns.  Michael Hackman helped with the fund-raising registrations. April  Blackman worked on marketing materials, created a newsletter, and worked with Barbara on fundraising. More training seminars were held. Also hired an accountant for Tax filing.

 2005

The TAT programs began to undergo scrutiny, becoming more refined. The mission statement and goals were revised as well. Michael Hackman was consulted for revision of the by-laws. The organization requested nonprofit business status in June. Peter Dunn helped create a Master Proposal for the program. Art and yoga workshops became more frequent at Amelia Earhart school. Tuning fork Workshops were introduced. A training seminar was staged for the facilitators.

 2004

Derek’s Puppet Workshops were introduced to the lineup, as well as Bray Ghiglia’s Drum Circles and Susan’s yoga classes at Amelia Earhart. Paul, Carol, Bray, and Niloo together assembled the potential Board of Directors.

 2003
